Dancing for Noobs

There is a first time for everything, and dancing at parties or dances isn't something everyone knows straight off. Here is a list of tips for all those who can't get jiggy with it.

  •       Do the mojo

Do a random pattern with your arms and body until it feels natural, that is your "mojo". Now whenever you aren't sure what to do or how to dance just do the "mojo".
"You can't be wrong at dancing, only different." --- Mr. Karrot

  • Watch what other people do and try it, with a twist to it.

If everyone around you is jumping, you jump with them. The point of a dance like such is group unity, "fitting in", and to create a group emotions effect of excitement. Then again if everyone is free styling then put your own twist to it. Perhaps do a combination of what two people are doing.

EX. "Sue is crisscrossing her legs and fist pumping." + " Jerry is jumping and waving his arms in the air " = "   Insert name here  is jumping and fist pumping"

There is your math lesson for the day.

  • If the song says to do it, do it.

If the song is " Whip my hair " then you better be whipping your hair back n' forth. Usually songs like that are great because the dance fits the song like a puzzle piece.

  • If you know the song sing it loudly, unless this is a slow quiet song in which case you are reading the wrong article.

If other people know you know the song then you guys can sing it together and you have that group emotions effect again. On top of this, it is fun to most people to yell at the top of their lungs and to sing outside of their bathroom. This will make your heart beat faster and will help bring oxygen to your body.

  • Just shake your head, arms, and legs in crazy patterns that fit the music.

Shake any part of your body really. Bend your knees and wave your arms in the air or something. The most important thing in this article about what you should do is actually what you should not do, which is stand or sit. Do not stand around on the dance floor or sit around, unless you're taking a break at the snack table. (or bar, depending on where you are.) So continue shaking, waving, or spinning your random body parts. Don't be spastic about it, just match the beat of the music.

  • Get you and your friends to do a certain dance all at once, groups are the best.

Get your friends to all do a certain dance whenever a certain song comes on. Something simple is always fine. The group emotions effect will make it really cool looking. People will want to join you and soon the whole room is doing it.
  • Learn the basics: fist pumping and the Cha-Cha

Look as some basics like fist pumping, grinding, the cha-cha,head banging, or the congo line. These are easy and popular enough for people to join you at it.

  • Take a dancing lesson or play some dancing games.

Dancing games and classes are the best way to pick up new moves when there are no parties going on. They can also give you a completely new style dancing like the salsa or the robot.

  • Confidence!!!
Confidence is key to almost anything you do. In dancing confidence will relax your body and improve your dancing. On top of that you'll have more fun because you're no longer worrying about how well you're dancing.

Now that you've gone through a basic dancing tutorial go out, party, and have a good time for now you can dance with the rest of them.
